5 mistakes to avoid when promoting your Airbnb

Let's dive into the common mistakes that might be holding you back when promoting your Airbnb online.

  1. Relying on your guests for photos.

If you’re relying on your guests for photos and videos, you’re probably feeling like you never have quite enough content, or your Instagram feed doesn’t quite look like others you admire. While the iphone can take high quality photos, if you’re serious about elevating your Airbnb, professional photos are going to do just that.

2. Leaving your followers on ‘read’.

When your followers interact with your posts and stories, it’s really important to respond to their engagement promptly and not leave them hanging. Each interactions is an opportunity to build a relationship with your audience.

While it’s lovely if you have time to respond with a thoughtful message, if you’re struggling to keep on top of enquiries it might be time to consider setting up some automated FAQs which can be easily done on Facebook or Instagram. These can address the common questions that pop up (e.g check in/out times, whether pets are allowed etc).

3. Leaving your positive reviews on your listing page.

Positive guest reviews are invaluable for building credibility and trust, don’t hide them away! Encourage guests to leave reviews and testimonials after their stay and promptly respond to feedback. When you receive a glowing reviews, share it on your social media platforms, and remember it can be used in more ways than just a post - you can repurpose the review as a caption, a reel, a story, a carousel.

4. Forgetting about the power of community.

It’s so important to embrace your local community when promoting your Airbnb on social media. You can work together with local businesses to provide exclusive discounts or packages in collaboration with nearby restaurants, tour operators, or attractions. This will add huge value to your listing and help to build your following.

5. Not sharing your homes’ unique story.

When it comes to promoting your Airbnb on social media, it's not just about showcasing the features of your space. Your followers want to know the whole experience—the ambiance, the thoughtful touches, and the special moments you've created with your guests in mind. Share the story behind your home, the candles, the linen, and the personal touches that make it truly unique.
